Stay on Track and Keep Moving Forward

We want you to feel supported, make steady progress and get the most out of your studies. We’ll help you understand how you’re tracking, connect you with support if you’re finding things challenging and guide you through the steps to complete your course and receive your qualification.

If you’re experiencing difficulties, reach out early so we can work with you to identify what’s getting in the way and explore the support available. We’ll also explain the processes for academic progress reviews, course completion and appeals, so you know what to expect and where to turn for help.

If you’re an international student, we’ll explain any additional requirements relating to your student visa, including course progress, completion timeframes and reporting obligations where applicable.

Academic Progress: Support from Day One

Starting a new course or studying in Australia for the first time is a big step, and you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. Before you arrive, our Early Engagement Program helps us understand your goals and identify any extra support that could help you get off to a strong start.

You’ll have opportunities to check how you’re going early in each study period, with formative assessments and feedback designed to help you identify gaps, build your skills and improve before major assessments are due.

If you have questions or hit a roadblock, our teaching team is available at the contact times listed in your unit information on the LMS. You can also reach out to your Personal Contact Team or connect with other students through our Student Success Network to share ideas, learn from each other and stay motivated.

We provide a range of academic and personal support to help you succeed, but your progress is a partnership. Take the initiative to ask questions, use the resources available and reach out early when something isn’t working. The sooner we know, the sooner we can help.

Having Difficulty? We’re Here to Help

Sometimes study doesn’t go to plan, and that’s okay. What matters is recognising when you need support and reaching out early. We look at a range of indicators to identify when you might need extra help, including your Getting Started Questionnaire, early assessment results, class attendance and assessment submissions. You can find the full details in our Academic Progress Policy and Procedure.

If we identify that you’re experiencing difficulties, we’ll contact you to discuss the support available and help you get back on track. If your progress continues to fall below the required thresholds, you may be formally classified as at risk, which means we’ll put additional support and progress monitoring in place.

Know that we are here for you – WE WANT YOU TO SUCCEED

If you’re still unable to meet the required progress standards, you may be asked to show cause: to explain the circumstances affecting your progress and why you should be allowed to continue your course. We’ll explain the process and your options so you understand what happens next.

Completing Your Course and Graduating

Fireworks celebrating graduation

You’ve put in the work, and graduation is your chance to celebrate what you’ve achieved and wear that funny gown and crazy hat! Photo time! Mum and Dad will be so proud. Most of all, you should be.

Once you’ve met all course-completion requirements and the other criteria set out in our Qualifications Issuance and Graduation Policy, you’ll be eligible to graduate.

When you graduate, you’ll receive your official academic documents, including your academic transcript, testamur (your formal qualification certificate) and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS). If you have questions about eligibility or the graduation process, get in touch with our team and we’ll help you understand the next steps.

Need to Take an Appeal Further?

If you disagree with an academic progress decision, you’re expected to use our internal review and appeals process first, as outlined in our Academic Progress Policy and Procedure. If your concern remains unresolved after completing our internal complaints and appeals processes, you may be able to seek an external review through the National Student Ombudsman (NSO).

Important Information for International Students

If you’re studying on a student visa, it’s important to understand how changes to your enrolment or academic progress may affect your visa arrangements. We’ll notify you of relevant changes and explain any applicable reporting requirements, including where your academic progress does not meet the required standards.

Changes to Your Course or Enrolment

If your circumstances change, please contact us as early as possible. Changes such as deferring your studies, transferring to another provider, withdrawing, changing courses or completing your course early may need to be reported to the Department of Home Affairs through the Australian Government’s Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS).

Our Registrar manages the required reporting once your change has been formally advised and confirmed by the relevant Course Coordinator. If you change to another course with us, we’ll advise you about any new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) required. You should check with the Department of Home Affairs whether your visa arrangements need to be updated or a new visa is required.

If you’re unsure what a change means for your studies or visa, speak with our team before making a decision. We can help you understand the process and where to find the right advice.
